Technical Manager

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 15-20 years in the construction industry, ideally with recent experience in large contractor firms.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in the latest design and detailing software.
  • Extensive knowledge of permanent structure designs and re-engineering for infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with bridge construction methods and temporary works design, including:
    • Slope stability
    • Deep excavation
    • Shoring and dewatering systems
    • Formwork
    • Thrust blocks for pressure lines
• Soft Skills: Strong understanding of large infrastructure projects, engineering technical requirements, value engineering, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Project Support:
  • Assist the Projects and Tendering teams with technical issues and value engineering for cost efficiency.
  • Ensure designs meet all relevant internal and external design codes and safety factors.
• Team Management:
  • Oversee functions of Engineering, Office Engineers, Surveyors, and Draughtsman for project-specific deliverables.
• Operations Monitoring:
  • Monitor operations of stationary plants and central laboratory to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Oversee project planning and control functions at both corporate and project levels.
• Process Improvement:
  • Work with project teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Analyze construction methodologies, resource needs, and cost-efficiency for new and ongoing projects.
• Documentation and Compliance:
  • Maintain knowledge of construction laws, standards, and practices to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including design calculations, method statements, and engineering reports.
• Design Review and Development:
  • Coordinate with structural detailers for preparation of construction methods and detailed drawings.
  • Evaluate site works methodologies and propose improvements for value engineering.
• Technical Support:
  • Ensure a well-maintained technical library with easy access to norms and standards.
  • Provide full technical support to project and estimating teams.
